Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian-German actress on television and film famous for her performance in films such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. Alexandra was the sole daughter of Romanian actor Valentin Platareu. When she was 16she already landed several television roles, for instance, the lead in the Downfall film Youth Without Youth Control. Following her highly acclaimed performance in the TV movie Der Tunnel, Alexandra went into other notable roles such as Adolf Hitler's secretary, Traudljunge, in Downfall. Downfall was nominated for an Oscar and was a critical as well as commercial great success. The Reader as well as Der Baader Meinhof Komplex were also nominated for Oscars. Alexandra is well-known for her work in numerous noteworthy projects both domestically and internationally. A few of them include the British biographical movie Control, Greek drama movie The Dust of Time, as well as the French historic miniseries Napoleon. She was also a member of both The Cannes Film Festival jury and Transylvania International Film Festival.
