Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983 in Worthington Ohio, is an American actress. Maggie Grace is most well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively on ABC's Lost television show. Originally from Worthington Ohio, she left high school in order to relocate to Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. The actress landed her first part, as Rachel's Room's main character in 2001 despite struggling in the financial department. In the following year, she was awarded a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford was the main actress on Lost in its two initial seasons. In 2004, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award with the entire ensemble. Grace wanted to focus on film following her role as Tom Welling's character on The Fog, in 2005. She has appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 and Taken opposite Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She played the same role on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both 2012). Grace played the role as Shannon in two more episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. The actress was featured in 2013's six-season of Californication. She portrays Faith an actress in a group and as an muse for the stars that catches the interest of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The first time she appeared in films of her father when he was an adolescent. With her brother, she also appeared in Donnie Darko (2000). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performances as the lead in the erotic romance comedy drama Secretary (2002) and in the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) both of which resulted in an Golden Globe Award nomination. After a string of commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). Nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress due to her part in Crazy Heart, (2009). Following that she continued to appear in comedy films and dramas like Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Won't Back Down (12). Apart from her character as a Secret Service agent, she also appeared as a character in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). The latest roles included as the main character The Kindergarten Teacher The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut with the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she received The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
